NAVICA + BinaxNOW COVID TESTING MOBILE APP

SITUATION   During COVID-19 pandemic, which restricted global travel, Abbott wanted to develop the BinaxNow self-testing units paired with a mobile app. This app would guide users through the testing process, ensuring accurate results. Individuals would be  able to test themselves and receive results quickly, facilitating travel decisions. The kit would serve as a travel passport for Americans, recognized internationally to enable seamless travel.

GOALS       Primary objective was to design the full UX and UI of the Navica mobile app as soon as in 3 months along with its marketing materials collaborating with the ABBOT Navica Product Team and stakeholders. 

 

OUTCOME  A game changer in travelling during Covid 19. The very first reliable rapid Covid-19 self testing kit, BinaxNOW, accompanied with a mobile app, NAVICA, to make individuals able to travel; Americans would have traveling freedom again, with the help of their "tested negative" for Covid -19 passport to be recognized on most airlines and countries globally. This app and kit together were used for 2 years but NAVICA got pulled out of the market by ABBOTT by 2023 as the Pandemic, Covid-19 cautions were completely removed, because its use was not necessary anymore. The BinaxNOW is still in the market.

MY ROLE    Lead UX/UI Designer. Worked on UX/UI /Product design of the mobile app from end to end along with the educative campaign materials. Worked on the Ideation, UCD process through iterative UI design and prototyping the mobile app on Figma. Conducted UX Research and user testing.
